About
Justin is a self-taught photographer specializing in landscape, wildlife, and macro photography. His interest in image-making began at the age of 12, when he brought a 35mm Kodak Flash disposable camera on a winter camping trip—an experience that sparked an enduring commitment to observing and documenting the natural world.
Over the course of his photographic practice, Justin has developed a distinctive visual approach shaped by curiosity, technical refinement, and a deep engagement with the environments he photographs. His work has been featured in publications including The Montana Photographer Magazine and exhibited at Barnes & Noble. Through his continued exploration of landscape, wildlife, and close-up natural subjects, Justin seeks to create images that reflect both the complexity and quiet beauty of the natural world.
Artist Statement
My work is rooted in a sustained attentiveness to the natural world and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed. Through landscape, wildlife, and macro photography, I seek to create images that invite closer observation—revealing texture, atmosphere, movement, and detail within environments that are constantly changing.
Photography allows me to slow the act of seeing. Whether documenting a vast landscape, the presence of wildlife, or the intricate structure of a small natural subject, I am interested in the relationship between patience, place, and perception. Each image is an effort to preserve not only what is visible, but also the atmosphere and sense of discovery experienced in the moment it was made.
As a self-taught photographer, my practice continues to evolve through exploration, experimentation, and a deep respect for the subjects I photograph. I aim to create work that encourages viewers to pause, look more carefully, and reconnect with the complexity and beauty of the natural world.
